COP BASTARD beginner guide

For the first half hour, keep moving and spend the charge meter on purpose. Kills fill it. Spit on a corpse to heal, or burn the meter on slow motion. The campaign has no upgrades, no puzzles, and no aim-down-sights.

The loop

The launch post is blunt: corridors, enemies, and a meter. Defeating enemies fills the charge. You spend it two ways: slow motion, or spit on a body to get health back. Shooting a corpse after it is down is called Extreme Prejudice and adds score.

One top-rated Steam review says one full segment heals 10 HP and both segments heal about 25, sometimes 30, and that the spit is bound to Tab. That is a single review, so I label it as one source and I do not promote it to an official number. Medkits exist and that same review calls them rare.

Guns and enemies you meet early

Start on the Beretta. The launch post also names a double-barrel shotgun and a Magnum. Two reviews add an Uzi. A full comparison is on the weapons page. Enemies in the posts and reviews are gunmen, kamikaze bombers, iron-mask goons, and a tougher labelled type.

Reload cancelling is a trick the September 2026 demo notes call out by name. Checkpoints arrived in the November 2025 demo overhaul and stayed for release. Hard difficulty unlocks after you finish the campaign, according to a Steam review and the hard-clear achievement.

Five things I would do first

Play the demo if you want the opening without paying. Treat the meter as a health battery until you are comfortable, because more than one player says slow motion is the weaker spend. Do not look for a skill tree. Headshots matter more once iron masks show up, since one shot to the mask is not enough. When a room is done, the extra bullets into bodies are score, not healing.

Questions

Is COP BASTARD hard for a new FPS player?

Reviews call the pressure high and the checkpoint cost low. There is no official difficulty curve. Hard mode is a second clear, not the default.

Are there puzzles or perks?

The store page says no puzzles, perks, or upgrades in the campaign. Upgrades exist only in Endless Mode.
