Games like COP BASTARD

CULTIC, Maximum Action, Trepang2, F.E.A.R., and Max Payne each overlap with a different part of COP BASTARD: retro shooting, slow motion, or crime-film style. The comparison below is editorial guidance based on store descriptions and attributed developer and player comments.

Why these five

Steam bundles COP BASTARD with Maximum Action, Better Than Dead, and RoboCop: Rogue City, among others. A bundle is a marketing connection, not proof that the games play identically. In the Reddit launch thread the developer says he likes Maximum Action, Max Payne, and F.E.A.R.; his separate naming post cites John Woo films. CULTIC’s developer Jasozz left a congratulations on the launch thread. A Steam review puts the gunfeel “up there with Trepang2,” which is one player’s comparison rather than a measured ranking.

Like DOOM, or not

Search mixes the name with DOOM. Hitbox and the store page describe authored corridors, not arena waves. The spit-or-slow-mo choice is this game’s meter, not a DOOM glory kill. If you want that meter and a short Osaka campaign, stay here. If you want procedural ships, that is Void Bastards, a different game.

Questions

Is COP BASTARD like DOOM?

Only at the level of “first-person guns.” The store page sells corridors and a charge meter, not arena combat.

Is it closer to CULTIC?

Both are retro-style first-person shooters, but CULTIC’s horror and cult setting differs from Osaka crime-film action. This is an editorial comparison, not a length or quality ranking.
